GeForce 7600 GT - Pentagram Freezone Overclocking

Yesterday i was writing about overclocking of 7600 GT with standard cooler. Today i've decided to take away the stock cooler and replace it with Pentagram Freezone (Cu).

First of all i needed to take my graphics card and take it apart. It's not a lot of work, but i really enjoy doing it. First i unscrewed whole cooler, then i took it apart - took away plastic cover and unscrewed fan. I was surprised, that the bottom of cooler (where it touches the core) was not polished but brushed. Also the quality of thermal paste was so low it actually fell off the gpu like an old dust.

After that i prepared new thermal paste and applied it onto the core, then i prepared mo custom Pentagram Freezone cooler and screwed it to the GPU.

After installing it in PC it run without any problems (fan is not connected to graphics card, but directly to PSU through MOLEX adaptor. First thing i noticed, is that in idle GPU temp was about 38 degree Celcius, and now it's about 32 degree Celcius.

Now the worse part - OC is no better than with stock cooler. Core max is 595 MHz and Memory max is 790 MHz. Yet sometimes it can still lower Core clock to basic 560 MHz (probably GPU has some kind of security). Temperatures in stress before swapping cooler was 54 degree Celcius, now it achieves maximum of 48 celcius degree. Looks like temperature has no impact on overclocking, and swapping to custom cooler gives me nothing.

Well, at least i tried to take the most out of this card, and now i can do it with lower temps. If you like my tests feel free to write to me and propose new ideas of hardware testing - coolpcuser@gmail.com.
